Parking Predicament

New lot solves parking problem for student
Chris Loffredo

On any given day students can find themselves circling the parking lot for ten minutes or more to find a spot on the Bryan campus. The campus parking lot is congested and full of inadequate drivers.

Early mornings as well as late evening classes are the best times to find convenient parking. It is next to impossible to find a decent parking spot after 10 a. m., as the parking lots turn into a mid-day circus where drivers fail to follow simple traffic signs and hostility among drivers’ increases. On any given day you can see around five to six people get cutoff while searching for a spot.

For my one o’clock class in the bookstore, I am usually forced to park as far as the CPC building. A new parking lot was recently built to help with some of the congestion. I interviewed Seth Cooke, a Blinn student, to get his opinion about the new lot.

“I always find a spot back here. It’s great!” Seth Cooke, said.

Other students said they had never heard of the new lot. Although, students who do use the new lot have found it to be a lot more convenient than trying to fight for a spot elsewhere but it is not always useful if your class is on the opposite side of campus. Most students will agree that the new lot has helped with congestion, but by no means solved the problem. In my opinion, the only way to survive the parking hassle is to be smart and give oneself a few extra minutes every day.
