Game Review - Fear 2
If you want a game to scare you for a weekend, look no further
The main thing that you will be doing in your time playing FEAR 2, is frantically checking dark corners of whatever room you are in, for whatever baddie that wants your head on a plate.
The developers of the game wasted no time in creating a creepy setting to the game. From the very first time you hear a sound out of nowhere in utter silence, you know you are in for a treat.
AUDIO: Lets start with audio. Imagine you are walking down a empty hallway in an elementary school. This is no ordinary school. It’s abandoned, you hear a desk screeching and turn a corner to see one racing across the floor into a room, the door slamming loudly behind it. Immediately following this is a child screaming and crying.
Do you want to go into that room? Let me answer for you. NO. This is only a small example of the things the developers throw at you during the course of the game. They do a really good job of scaring you by what you are hearing, from intense sequences with loud screeches and gunfire, to completely quiet moments with no music, which almost always come back to scare you right when you are beggining to relax.
GRAPHICS: So in my personal opinion, they could have done just a little more work on the graphics, if you have a gaming computer, then GREAT FOR YOU. however, the rest of us have to settle for what looks like halo 2. There’s not much to say here, its an older game. I forgive them
GAMEPLAY: This game is FUN, from fighting your way through tons of soldiers . To going through sequences where you are scared the bajeezus out of. And almost want to quit. this game never holds itself back from giving you a heck of a ride. The slow-motion gameplay element from the original FEAR has stayed intact, which is a Godsend for this series. It is possibly the best element this game has. Play the game and tell me that it is not fun to slide through a window, kicking a soldier in the head while shooting another, all in slow-motion.
STORY: There is noway to explain in the length of this article, how crazy-awesome (is that a word?) the story is to this game. If you played the first one then you will most likely enjoy the story in this one.
All I can say without giving any crucial spoilers, is that it is set immediately after the explosion at the end of the first game. (if you dont know what im talking about, go play the first one) You are another soldier, who has also been “affected” by armacham corp. And when the ‘you know what’ hits the fan, you are in the middle of it. By the end of the game, many questions that were left unanswered... are still unanswerd, but they do explain an ‘adequate’ amount of questions.
IN CONCLUSION: This game is not one that you will play over and over. But the time you do spend playing it, is well spent.
