On February 13th, the 53rd Grammy Awards took place in Los Angeles at the Staples Center.  Performers included Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and Usher, the legendary Bob Dylan accompanied by Mumford & Sons and The Avett Brothers, Muse, Arcade Fire, and a star studded tribute for Aretha Franklin which featured Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson, Florence Welch, Martina McBride, and Yolanda Adams.
The coveted Best New Artist award was up for grabs and contenders were Mumford & Sons, Florence and the Machine, Justin Bieber, Drake, and Esperanza Spalding.  Surprising everyone, Esperanza Spalding walked away with the Grammy. Lady Antebellum won big by receiving the Record and Song of the Year award. Arcade Fire claimed the Album of the Year Grammy and also put on a wild performance which involved BMX riders.

Other winners included The Black Keys-Tighten Up for Best Alternative Album, Muse-The Resistance for Best Rock Album, and Lady Gaga-The Fame Monster for Best Pop Vocal Album. The Grammys had a few slow boring moments, but overall the show was a success
