Travie McCoy performs in College Station

He may not be a billionaire but his name is definitely in lights. Travie McCoy made his stop at Daisy Duke’s at Northgate in College Station on Wednesday night. Although the artists that were opening before him were good, you could tell that the audience was anticipating Travie’s performance.

Travie needed no introduction as he took the stage and mostly performed songs from his solo album, Lazarus, which was released in 2010.  Before performing “Cupid’s Chokehold” from his former band Gym Class Heroes, he gave a short description on how hard he had worked to get to where he is as an artist.

Travie was born in New York and joined Gym Class Heroes in 1997. After ten years with the group, he introduced “Cupid’s Chokehold”, which truly kick-started started his rise to fame.

He also played his hit single, “Billionaire”, from the album and everyone in the crowd sang along. Knowing that everyone in a club knows the words to your song must feel like an accomplishment, and although he may not have billions of dollars, he sure does have a lot of fans.
