Little Shop of Horrors

My visit with the Theatre Dept.

When I walked into the theatre room I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I had never heard of Little Shop of Horrors before and I was intrigued by what it could be about. I was slightly surprised at the silly and sometimes disturbing story of a boy Seymour who works in a florist shop and pines for his work mate Audrey. Seymour’s life is changed forever when he suddenly obtains a mysterious plant that longs for human blood.
While the show was sometimes shocking what was more shocking was the talented group of young actors and singers in the production. They are hard working and are dedicated to making the production the best it can possibly be. Mr. Neis, Theater Arts Director, brought the students CDs which contained Chicago accents for the students to practice with.
During my visit I was amazed at the intensity of the rehearsal and I found myself forgetting that the production was not yet complete. After practice I asked Mr. Neis how he felt about the show and the students performing, “I think it is going to go very well. We have a good group of students this year.”  After my visit, I would have to agree.
Little Shop of Horrors will be premiering October 14, 15, and 16 at 7:00 PM. I strongly encourage everyone to come out and see the show.
