Insight on succeeding in a college atomsphere

Time management is crucial for anybody who wants to be successful at anything they do whether they are a student or a professional. As a young adult becoming a man I am realizing that this is more true than ever and the need for college students to be more aware of this needs to be advertised. In this article I will talk about the importance of time, why it needs to be managed properly, and give some advice from my fellow classmates and other students in time management.

Now that technology has pretty much made everything available on demand, people don’t have the urgency they once had to finish tasks on time. Not trying to be a hypocrite, I myself have fallen victim to this ongoing crisis. As a high school student, time was something I thought would never go away and I would always have plenty of it but now that I am almost 21 years old I see that its completely false and time is what you make it and not managing it well will result in a lot of missed opportunities and a lot of times projects or homework. My parents and family members always stressed to me that if you don’t start doing something as early as possible; the chances of you doing them “later” become harder with each passing day. My dad would always say, “triya, when you get home make sure that the first thing you do is read over your notes you took that day before you even have something to drink or eat”. I’m sure every teenager hearing this would agree with me when I say that homework and notes where the last thing on my mind on my way home on the school bus, I had already figured out what I was going to do when I got home until bedtime without even adding studying into the mix. But as I got older I realized that what he was telling me was effective and if I followed them I wouldn’t be struggling to catching up with my English homework that I am almost two days overdue with (sorry dad).

Managing your time properly is essential because it shows your maturity level and also that you can handle any task someone gives you without the person feeling that you might not complete it. In college it’s very essential because if your time is well managed you can do great things.for example; make it to all your classes, on time, create an hourly sheet that shows what you are going to be doing at every hour. Lastly make time for you to do anything you want, to recharge your batteries. Not everybody has the luxury of not needing to be in the work force while in school, but they do have an advantage over me which is, they already know about time management and are using it very effectively or else they wouldn’t be able to do both. So in essence, time management is a universal theme that a lot of people need to master and doing just that will save you money, energy, and most important of all time.

We all have ways of approaching problems, that’s why the internet was created and has become something that some of us couldn’t live without. My four biggest tips for you to manage your time better would be.

1. Create a time sheet that says what you are doing or what classes you have every day.

2. Try to limit unneccessary activities for the weekend or after you have studied for all your classes.

3. Keep off Facebook; this is a huge time waster for procrastinating college students.

These are just some suggestions that I think would be useful for anyone interested in making the most of their days so please I ask you to look at your life and if you feel that something is missing, the words from this article can help you fill that void if time is something you feel is against you.
