As of now, I have joined choir and have noticed the endless gifts these students possess. It gave me great pleasure to attend the “Voice Studio Recital of Classical Repertoire.” I was very impressed by the voices they have and confidence from each participating individual.

Each participant was expected to perform classical art, classical arias, spirituals, and show tunes. Each demonstrated great passion, while others put little theatrical action into the selection they have chosen.
Kelly Connaughton, a sophomore  illustrated great promise and self-assurance as she moved and expressed herself gradually. She stated after the recital, “I was nervous, but once I sung the first line I was okay.” Another student by the name of Adrian Priento responded by stating that he spent “hours and hours of practice. We always have fun practicing”. Ashia Miles sung a beautiful piece “too beautiful for words” from the motion picture “The Color Purple.”
Stunned by her execution the coral director Miss Jennifer Wise responded “When she first came to Blinn, she was very quiet and you couldn’t even hear her, now she’s making music and shows her very lovely voice.” After a wonderful night of outstanding performances Julia William commented that “tonight was a great way to break in the year.” Bryan Pope agrees by interpreting “It’s wonderful to hear everyone sing, it shows how much everyone’s improved.”

Confident of how the show ended Miss Wise exclaimed “I’m very proud.” Elizabeth Shipsey, Assistant Director commented “I’m extremely excited of the raw talent from the beginning freshman to the promising sophomores makes us very proud.” With a final note from that statement, Miss Wise said “We are very blessed, the sophomores are continuing to improve, the freshman are expected to fully blossom, and at this point, I would say it’s looking very good for them.”
I encourage everyone to come and show their support as these music majors continue to grow and prosper for the future. Our current students work very hard so that they can achieve a goal everyone set themselves to be - the best. I do agree that this was a good start for the Coral Program and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
