Campus Safety Reminder

Secure your car!
Ziria Maldonado

Congratulations to all the students here at Blinn! We are now in our 5th week of school and nearing the end of the fall semester as the days grow shorter and gradually cooler.

This is as quick safety reminder to always remember to lock your car when you park at school. It is recommended NOT to bring valuables to school, but if you do, DO NOT leave them lying in plain sight for people walking around your car to see.  Hide them under a seat or lock them in your trunk.   When discussing this issue with Captain Bill May and Sergeant Robert Donahoo of the Blinn Police, they both said the primary reason cars are targeted is because students leave their laptop, purse, etc., lying in plain sight.  Also, don’t forget or leave your keys in the ignition of your car, pay attention to your surroundings, and try to walk with someone to your car, especially at night.

For the students who have late or nighttime classes, our campus police officers offer nighttime escorts if you feel uneasy about crossing the campus alone to your car or even to the bus.
